Happy 40th, Che!
Monday is the 40th anniversary of the death of Che Guevarra. He was killed here in a remote village in Southcentral Bolivia. There are thousands of people from all over the world making the long trek to Valle Grande to commemorate his life and vision. I have been told by many that it is a spectacle to attend and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have to admit that I thought about making the journey this weekend, but I decided that the purpose of curiousity was not enough. I passed up the once in a lifetime opportunity because although I support a lot of what Che stood for, I can´t back the violent means he turned to in an attempt to reach his goals in the later years. There is more truth to his story than the iconic and overused symbol that he has become since his death. Although I´m not in Valle Grande this weekend, I plan to continue to look into the life of this Latin American revolutionary, whose vision still pulses very strongly through the people here. There is a deep and emotional truth to his vision for justice that I am only beginning to understand.

Thanks for all of the updates, Molly! It has been really interesting to read about your adventures, as well as your reflections and thoughts about what you are encountering. Keep the updates coming and take care!!! Hope you are soaking up all that Spanish. :)

"The Motorcycle Diaries" was a great book/ movie though, you have to admit. Even if you don't agree with Che's tactics or politics. I am glad to hear that you are beginning to settle in with your new surroundings; the new vegi wrap that you found, the family bday parties and a Friday night on the town. Keep the news coming. Take care of yourself and please translate the following sentence...
Yo no soy un vegetariano porque adoran animales; soy un vegetariano porque odio plantas.

Hey Mol,
I enjoy reading your stories, but it is almost hard to keep up to date with the frequency of appearance! For now you are leading such a different life than I am: a totally different surrounding, culture and way of life. That must be so interesting and challenging. It sounds as if you are really starting to feel at home there, I am glad to hear so. Keep up that spirit and the good work! Time is flying these past months, that must be the same for you.
My life is a bit busy now as well. Work has been demanding the past weeks and will be at least next week, since I have 4 presentations coming up within 8 days. So that is exciting and a lot to handle. But it is fun too and I do feel as if I am getting a lot of things done (unfortunately a lot not as well!). Besides the work, my sister is getting married right before Christmas too and I will have a double task: being both maid of honor and in helping them with preparing the wedding. And of course there is the bachelorette, so busy but great times for me. Soccer is wel too. But we have dropped some points in the past games, so I will try and make my first goal!
Well, enough for now. Take care my friend and enjoy!
x Margot
